In 2017, Miami Music Club will continue to create spaces for underground musicians and artists to come together, where diverse communities can dance, think, and thrive. We’re pleased to announce that MMC has received a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as part of its Knight Arts Challenge, in order to curate a series of shows at traditional (and untraditional) art spaces.
MMC will bring national and international musicians and artists to Miami, focusing on those who work on the fringes of contemporary music and art. Though we identify as genre-neutral, MMC focuses on experimental projects that cross the borders of techno, noise, sound art, performance, punk, world, and beyond.
The programming, which will include Miami-based artists as well, will encourage cross-disciplinary dialogue and rigorous cultural production. Just as important, MMC will continue to operate as a safe space for a diverse community to gather and dance.
We are currently planning an ambitious program for 2017. Please reach out if you are interested in supporting MMC with a donation of capital or space—the Knight Foundation will match your donation dollar-for-dollar. Monetary donations over $250 are tax deductible.
MMC also provides affordable audio-visual services for a variety of events. With an in-house PA system and audio technician, MMC can provide sound for talks, performances, concerts, and other types of programming. Videography can also be commissioned with our professional, in-house videographer (think: a film of your party, or time lapses of your exhibition’s installation).
Feel free to reach out with inquiries and questions. We also kindly ask that you please forward this to those who might be interested in our work.
Thank you for your attention and energy, and for all the support you’ve already provided.
